I Return! Avengers VS X-men, Eligible Monster, Dragons Dogma!

I know oh faithful readers, I've been away a little over a week, but I've been extremely busy!
So first off, I have completely read every issue of that series listed right there on the right, and all I can say is I'm blown away. I love it!  To see Cyclops going for his last hope, and Captian America just trying to get eveyrone to understand his point of view. Personally so far I'm loving the main series and seeing whats happening at all the schools with the students. Some of the series aren't interesting me too much, such as Secret Avengers, but I did read it to make sure I have everything. I dont want to spoil it, but if you into comic books, defiently check this series out if your not reading it already.
As far as other series going on, I'm a little disappointed in the direction their taking the Flash. It seems like the tired old superhero troupe of I'm hurting everyone so I'll make my alter ego disappear deal. We all know how this ends, so please just move onto a interesting storyline! If your not tracking Green Lantern though, defeintly look into it as their getting all mysterious and interesting again with explaining the Indigo Lanterns!
Now to talk about the little project my wife and I have begun, Eligible Monster! We officially launched the YouTube channel! I mean its been up for awhile, but I have officially begun to promote it every chance I get. So far the overall reaction is generally positive. Here's two of our latest videos, hope anyone who catchs this enjoys and heads over to our channel to subscribe and comment!

Dragon's Dogma, Lollipop Chainsaw and Day Z Oh MY!

Alright here's a quick blog to keep everyone rolling, I picked up all three of these titles and already started up a Dragon's Dogma tag team playthrough on my YouTube Channel, so go check it out now at Eligible Monster. ZodicalCandy and I have downloaded the Day Z mod and completed the combat training in Arma 2, so this will defiantly be interesting.
You see this whole Day Z mod thing has taken the internet by storm. The dream of all modder's is to follow suit with the counterstrike guys and eventually get picked up by the company who made the original game and given a job because they have done such a incredible job. Well guess what, its only rumors right now but this mod has been supposedly picked up by the creators of Arma 2 for inclusion into Arma 3. Seriously, congrats Day Z creators, i hope this pans out for you.
In case your wondering, Day Z is a mod on the Arma 2 engine where basically it turns it into a game of survival, in a Zombie Apocalypse. There doesn't appear to be a mission or objective, but you just see how long you can survive against Zombies and other players. Basically what the Walking Dead game SHOULD have been.
Well that's all like I said quick post, time for me to feel weird playing Lollipop Chainsaw!

I-Phone Games, Dragons Dogma Video Incoming, and Earth 2!

Alright little known fact, I am horribly addicted to App based games. I start them up and lose myself. But here's a truly awesome one. My real job in the real world is a preventive medicine technician. Basically my job is to prevent disease, so in this game the goal is to create a disease and watch it spread and help it evolve!!! Amazing and addicting everyone needs to check this one out!

Dragons Dogma

Alright, if you read earlier posts, I love RPGs. I was addicted to Dark Souls, I played Skyrim for 100+ hours. ZodicalCandy is the shooter chick, I'm the RPG fanatic. Go figure. So I'm going to be recording a Let's Play style video (Mostly jumping to the highlights) of Dragons Dogma. Love it so far, yet I only did the opening. Look for it on the Eligible Monster YouTube channel within the next few days!

Earth 2 DC Comics

Seeing as this is my personal blog, it may or may not contain some random geek ranting along with my video game ranting. Oh wait it will contain it. With that said...
   WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!
Look at this! I can get behind the complete reimagining of Alan Scott. Which is you havent heard is now the headlining gay superhero in the DC Universe. They promoted the gay super hero as the Green Lantern, but it was actually Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern and not the one that you've seen in the movie Hal Jordan. But Im fine with them changing his alter ego as long as they retain the original costume and powers of the original Alan Scott. But I am a huge fan of the Flash, I love all of the Flashes from Jay Garrick to Bart Allen. But the moment I got this issue in the mail I flipped out, how can you change the iconic original Flash costume from this...
TO THAT UGLY HELMENT LIGHTNING BOLT WANNA BE FLASH!
Sorry I try not to use caps often, but this change required it. I've decided to give Earth 2 three more issues, but if we see more drastic changes like this I'm going to be unsubscribing. Its almost as if DC decided to use their rejected costume remakes on the poor poor members of the Justice Society...

E3 Continued, New Project in Works!

I'm going to be writing more about E3 soon, but as it is getting late right now I'm just going to comment on Nintendo while I'm sitting here thinking about it. It's rather sad to see the current state of Nintendo's creative department. This is the company that single handily revived gaming. This is the company who has thought of all of the new ideas brought into gaming from motion control, to the use of tablets. But their problem is they just don't seem to think far enough a head. I don't know if its the Japanese business mentality, or if their still stuck in some ideas from the past, but Nintendo just always seem to take a step forward and leap back four.
For my first example lets look at their new system, the Wii U. They basically made a controller on the sides of a tablet. This is further proven by the fact that most of the demo games they have showed us is played on the Wii U"Tablet" controller. The game play that is displayed on this controller is then displayed on the TV for others to see. There has been a few obscure uses for it such as one player seeing a private screen while the others all look at their controllers and TV, but still, its just a tablet. Alright Nintendo made a step forward, then Sony and Microsoft promptly knocked them back four steps. Sony made it so you can use your Vita and your PS3 and just play the same games back and forth. Basically a tablet that plays PS3 games, not ones specifically made for it. Then Microsoft said hey, everyone already has phones and tablets, lets just make a App so they can use all their old things they already own.
If that's not bad enough, Nintendo at first glace appears to be ignoring most of the internet once again. Their sticking to their idea of getting the whole family to sit around and play 4 player games. Good on paper, but I have never met a family who all sat around and played video games. When it comes to getting 3 of my buddies to come over and play games, I haven't been able to convince them of that in years. The internet ruined couch play and as much as I miss sitting around getting drunk with my friends playing games, I just don't see us going back in that direction, we're going forward into the full digital age.
I have a lot more to say about E3 but its getting late and I'm getting tired. More to come.
Side note, it almost seemed like Reggie was going to flip out on the G4 interviewer when asked why anyone would play these 2 year old games, aren't they the same content?

E3 Day One Complete!

Here's my personal take on E3 so far.

Poor Poor Nintendo...

I was kind of hoping that Nintendo could get a break this year. This obviously isn't going to be that year. Nintendo had a pretty cool idea, it was basically the old school Dream Cast idea on a whole new level, but it was something new to bring to the market. They basically took a tablet, stuck it into their controller and left in their motion controls. Awesome I thought, more control over your video game, less controller. Microsoft saw this idea and said to themselves, oh you put a tablet into your controller? We'll just put the program into tablets. Yep that's right, just like when the announcement of the Kinect blew away any hope of making the Wii technology worth something, the new Microsoft Smart Glass technology takes the Wii U idea and puts it into ANYTHING with a touch screen. This is obviously day one and we haven't seen what Nintendo is offering, I just hope its enough to take the scene back from Microsoft. I'll have a larger post on what this thing can do either in a few days on this Blog, or on the Eligible Monster blog soon. For now, I think I made a mess in my pants at the possibilities.

Halo 4, More Elites because there's cake.

So I'm happy we have more Master Chief, I'm happy we're getting Cortana again, and hell there is the elites again... Okay this is starting to just look familiar. Sadly in my opinion it appears Halo is about to fall into the COD trend. Just another rehash of the same game to sell the name. Sure we saw a new alien and we saw some new tech with the new guns. Overall though, it looks like its the same ol Master Chief and Halo. Here's to hoping we at least have some new game play mechanics or they at least bring a lot of the Reach features into the game. Regardless I'll play it and the live action stuff they put into the beginning was just amazing!

Gears of War...Again....

Don't get me wrong, I am in love with Gears of War. I don't know if its the sappy bromance story or the over the top chainsaw guns, but I love it. I tip a beer in hopes that this wont be more rehash of the exact same just to sell the game again.

Tomb Raider can raid my tomb...

I'll regret that statement later with my wife, I already know it. I have to say though, I'm throughly impressed with the new Tomb Raider. I was expecting the same old rehash with a prettier face, but they have defeintly completely reinvented the game...and seem to have ripped off Uncharted. Not that this is a bad thing, but from the trailer we saw today they defiently took a lot of ideas from that blockbuster series over on the PS3. Now the question is can they properly make a game to compete with Uncharted and have it be on all the systems, because I'm seriously not a fan of my PS3...

Assassin's Creed...I made a mess in my pants again

I won't lie, I was getting a bit burned out on  the Assassin's Creed series. I absolutely, positively, without a doubt love the series. Its always in diffirent and unique areas that no other game even tries. Walking around killing random people and stalking your prey is awesome. But after giving us a yearly release for about five years now, it was growing very stale and tiresome. But when I saw this trailer, I flipped, within the short 5 minute trailer they showed us all the gameplay we know and love, but with a whole new take on it. No more Italy, we're in New England. No more hidden dagger, we have a tomahawk. No more full florished cities, we have wooded areas, with soldiers looking for you to killing you with a single bullet. They could have showed us just the good stuff, or we could possibly have the next big thing. I cant wait, let me go clean my pants now.

More of my personal opinions on E3 tomorrow!

Back with projects up and running!

Hey its our temp little monster logo!
I haven't written a post in a while, but there is a good reason for that. My wife and I have officially launched Eligible Monster! That is what we are calling our collective of Pod casts, YouTube videos and blog posts!

So with that said, find Eligible Monster TERA Podcast on I-Tunes, or First Episode
Now we're going to be putting up some videos on the YouTube channel by the end of the week!

Now without further delay, on with my rant!

 Stamina Bars Suck Ass!

These are my hoe's, the one missing her arms is half off...
Was there a meeting with all the big game developers where they decided that every game needed some form of Stamina?  Just because in real life I'd be winded swinging a sword in circles three times does not mean I want to get winded in Dark Souls when I swing my giant claymore. Games are my escape from reality. In games I want to swing my sword nine hundred times and never be winded! In video games I want to jump twenty feet into the air while doing a back flip and all of this be in slow motion! None of this is possible in real life and that's why its awesome!
You'll put your eye out kid!
So this brings me to the game that has brought on this rant and the game which is displayed to the right there, Dead Island! When it comes to Dark Souls as annoying as the stamina bar was, the entire game was just there to punish you and make you cry. This makes the stamina bar just another punishing aspect of the game. But when you take a game like Dead Island, where your entire purpose is to beat down zombies until there's blood splattered across every wall, door and ceiling, and add in a stamina bar you do nothing but irritate players! The game already has a overly insane durability system where about ten strikes with a weapon will cause it to break. Throw in a stamina bar that is gone once I've swung my weapon five times, now I'm irritated with a broken weapon and no energy to even run away. This honestly completely ruined the game for me. At first it was a minor annoyance, beat one zombie to death, run away from the second til I have enough stamina to beat the second one. This was a great start, once you reach act two it gets ridculious!
Let me explain, in the beginning all the zombies go down easy and as annoying as that stamina is, its bearable. Act two suddenly each zombie takes two to three full stamina bars to defeat. On top of that it takes two zombies and your weapons are basically broken. The game just becomes insanely irritating. There is no reason for it, because the game already throws ten zombies at you every five seconds. It just seems to me like the whole stamina and durability things are in Dead Island just as a irritation and nothing else.

So let me ask you game developers, is it your goal to irritate me and make your disc a coaster on my coffee table?
